Women's Basketball falls to Thomas More in top-20 battle

Box Score

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- No. 17-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball dropped its second straight game with a 69-56 loss today to No. 4 Thomas More (Ky.) at the Connor Convocation Center.

After handing the Saints (17-1, 12-1 in the Mid-South Conference) their only loss of the season last Saturday, the Blue Raiders struggled on both ends of the court to ultimately split the season series with Thomas More.

Despite welcoming back leading scorer Reagan Turner after a four-game absence, the Blue Raiders (12-3, 7-3) just could not find their offensive rhythm. Lindsey Wilson shot just 36.5 percent (19-of-52) from the floor, including making just two of 15 shots from 3-point range for the game.

The Blue Raider defense also had a rare off day. After holding the Saints to just 34-percent shooting last week, Thomas More found comfort at home knocking down 42-percent in the game while making nine 3-pointers -- compared to just two from the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson looked strong in the opening quarter as Turner scored 10 of her game-high 23 points to give the Blue Raiders a 17-15 lead through 10 minutes. The Saints responded with a game-changing second quarter -- outscoring the Blue Raiders 21-9 in the second frame -- and did not trail again. Thomas More led at the break 36-26.

Lindsey Wilson cut the deficit to single digits four times in the third period and climbed within eight (51-43) in the early stages of the fourth quarter. But the Saints used a 12-2 run to put the game out of reach en route to a 69-56 win.

Bree Glover joined Turner with double digits while collecting her fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Kenzie Schwarber led the Saints with 20 points.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5:30 p.m. CT on Monday, Jan. 25, as the Blue Raiders travel to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) in Pulaski, Tennessee.
