COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team won its third dual meet of the season beating Campbellsville (Ky.) 31-15 Wednesday afternoon.
Lindsey Wilson swimmers claimed victory in nine events on the day, while Campbellsville claimed victory in four events.
For the Blue Raiders, Maaike Broersma was victorious in three individual races and two relays. The freshman from The Netherlands picked up a victory in the 50-yard freestyle, setting a provisional standard time of 24.94. In the 200-yard backstroke, Broersma set a new program record with a winning time of 2:06:48, her second provisional standard time of the afternoon. She would also set another provisional standard time in the 100-yard freestyle, winning the event with a time of 55.17.
Broersma teamed up with Savannah Schoeman, Annissa Koekemoer, and Carlene Taylor to capture first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:41:94. She also teamed up with Jaye Farthing, Carlene Taylor, and Allie Rutherford to win the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:48:91.
Alongside the excellence of Broersma, Jaye Farthing picked up two individual victories on the night for the Blue Raiders. The sophomore claimed the top spot in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:48:26 and the 500-yard freestyle with a finishing time of 5:47:17.
Allie Rutherford captured the top spot in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:19:40 while Carlene Taylor would win the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12:47. Taylor also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.90.
Savannah Schoeman and Juliana Villa finished second and third in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:04:04 and 1:05:21, respectfully.
Annissa Koekemoer finished third in both the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.92 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:19:71. Hailey Russo finished second in both the 200-yard butterfly the 100-yard butterfly with times of 2:53:54 and 1:16:39 respectfully.
Emma Phillips finished second in both the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:56:32 and the 500-yard freestyle recording a time of 5:50:26.
The Lindsey Wilson swimming team are back in action when they travel to Kingsport, Tennessee to compete in the Mid-South Conference Championships on February 4-6.
