PORTSMOUTH, Ohio. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team defeated Shawnee State (Ohio) in road action on Saturday with a 180-75 result in their first dual of the season. LWC took first place in 12-of-14 races.
Maaike Broersma picked up three NAIA Provision Standards on the afternoon, doing so in the 200-meter freestyle, 50 freestyle and the 200 backstroke. She took first place in all three races with times of two minutes and 16.30 seconds, 27.72 seconds and 2:25.59, respectively. She took first in all three races.
Natascha Evrinoff also added a provision standard on the day when she took first place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.88. She added her second first-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:41.38.
Annissa Koekemoer, Julia Secanell, Allie Rutherford and Karolina Bidnik claimed first place in the 200 medley relay with a mark of 2:11.75. The relay pairing of Evrinoff, Savannah Schoeman, Carlene Taylor and Broersma added another relay win, in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.08.
Avery Herring took first place in the 800 freestyle with a mark of 10:21.02 as Koekemoer added another first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:12.70. Schoeman touched the wall in first with a time of 1:04.54 during the 100 freestyle as Herring raced her way to first in the 400 freestyle with a mark of 5:03.05.
Koekemoer tallied her second first-place finish in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:38.01.
