Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team fell in the championship match of the Mid-South Conference Fall Invite to Cumberlands (Ky.) 4-2 this evening.
The Blue Raiders (1-1) won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point but lost four in singles play to ultimately lose the match.
Steven Espinoza and Nicolas Torrealba got things started in doubles action with a 6-2 loss to the Patriots. Anatoliy Voloshyn and Jan Silhavy made up for the loss, winning their game 6-4. Tiago Almedia and Aleksa Ciric earned the doubles point the following match with a 7-6 (7-5 Tiebreaker) win.
In singles action, only one Blue Raiders won with Ciric earning a 6-0, 3-6, (10-4) win. The Patriots went on to win the other four singles matches to clinch the match, claiming two singles wins in matches that went to tiebreakers.
The sixth singles match went unfinished due to the Patriots clinching.
Silhavy will compete once more this fall for the Blue Raiders on October 14th when he participates in the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia after winning the ITA Regional in September. The rest of the Blue Raiders return to play on March 12th, 2022 when they compete against Shawnee State (Ohio) in Portsmouth, Ohio.
