Women's Swimming defeats Campbellsville and Asbury

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team hit the road this afternoon and picked up two wins, defeating Asbury (Ky.) 119-66 and Campbellsville (Ky.) 155-30. The Blue Raiders claimed first place in seven of the 11 events.

Annissa Koekemoer, Allie Rutherford, Caitlin Higdon and Karolina Bidnik teamed up in the 400-meter medley relay to take first place with a time of four minutes and 54.72 seconds.

Avery Herring kicked off individual action with a first-place finish in the 800-meter freestyle. She touched the wall in 10:29.97 while Jaye Farthing took third at 10:55.72. Carlene Taylor and Julia Secanell took second and third during the 200-meter freestyle. Taylor raced her way to a time of 2:20.47 as Secanell finished in 2:23.55.

Maaike Broersma added another first-place finish, coming during the 50-meter freestyle when she finished in 28.57 seconds. Savannah Schoeman took third with a mark of 30.26 seconds.

Rutherford claimed first place during the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:10.47. Taylor and Schoeman finished one-two during the 100-meter freestyle with times of 1:03.77 and 1:05.54, respectively.

Broersma clocked a provisional standard time of 1:07.46 seconds to claim first place during the 100-meter backstroke. Koekemoer finished third in the event with a time of 1:13.49. Natascha Evrinoff came second in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:58.80 as Herring took third at 5:09.01.

Secanell took second during the 100-meter breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:24.71.

Evrinoff, Schoeman, Taylor and Broersma closed out action with a first-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay. The finished in 1:56.12.

The Blue Raiders continue road action tomorrow afternoon when they compete against Midway (Ky.). Action is slated to begin at Noon CT.
