Men's Swimming Takes Down Asbury and Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team defeated Asbury (Ky.) 133-54 and Campbellsville (Ky.) 136-51 on Friday evening. The Blue Raiders won seven of 11 events and set four national "B" cut standard times.

Will Thilwind, Tyler Buffell, Chase Hickman and Reece Kincaid claimed first place in the 400-meter medley relay with a time of four minutes and 04.99 seconds.

Malte Ahrens claimed first place during the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 9:11.83. Fabio Martin took second in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:01.83.

Tyler King added another second-place finish during the 50-meter freestyle, touching the wall in 24.73 seconds. Jordan Schaffer and Siaka Weidenbaum finished in third and fourth place as all three Blue Raiders picked up national "B" standard times.

James de Goede claimed first place during the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:16.21. He later added another first-place finish during the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 54.70 seconds. LWC swept the podium in the event as King and Schaffer took second and third.

Weidenbaum and Hickman finished in second and third during the 100-meter butterfly with times of 59.48 seconds and 1:00.00, respectively.

Thilwind notched a first place and "B" cut standard during the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 59.94 seconds. Martin added another first-place finish during the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:18.81.

De Goede, Schaffer, Weidenbaum and King closed out the event with a first-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay, touching the wall in 1:39.60.

The Blue Raiders continue road action tomorrow afternoon when they compete against Midway (Ky.). Action is slated to begin at Noon CT.
