Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team opened play at the Mid-South Conference Fall Invite with a 6-1 win over Campbellsville.
The Blue Raiders (1-0) captured the doubles point after winning all three doubles matches and won five of the six singles matches on the evening to secure the 6-1 win.
Steven Espinoza and Nicolas Torrealba opened doubles action with a dominant 6-2 win while Jan Silhavy and Anatoliy Voloshyn won the second match 6-1 to claim the doubles point. Tiago Almeida and Aleksa Ciric also won their doubles match 6-4.
In singles action, five of the six competing Blue Raiders won in straight sets with Silhavy keeping the Blue Raiders in the win column to start things off, winning 6-4, 6-1. Ciric gave the Blue Raiders a 3-0 team lead after he won his singles match 7-6, 6-4.
Almeida had won his first game in singles competition 7-6 but had to retire in the second match, giving the Tigers their only point in the contest.
Voloshyn (6-3, 6-4), Espinoza (6-3,6-2) and Torrealba (6-0, 6-1) closed things out on the night to help the Blue Raiders to a 6-1 win.
The Blue Raiders will continue action tomorrow at 6 p.m. CT and will play the winner of the Cumberlands (Ky.) vs. Cumberland (Tenn.) game.
