Women's Basketball Rallies In Second Half For Comeback Win Over Freed-Hardeman

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The No. 14-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team rallied back in the second half to complete the comeback win over Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon.

Maleigha Oldham led the Blue Raiders (4-1, 1-1 MSC) in scoring with a season-high 20 points on the afternoon. Bree Glover led the team in rebounds on the day collecting seven in the game. As a team, Lindsey Wilson shot 41.9 percent overall and 25 percent from beyond the arc. The Blue Raiders outrebounded the Lions 32-26 while both teams had 13 turnovers.

The opening half of play from the Blue Raiders was slow to start off in the first quarter as the side only scored nine points compared to the Lions 14 to open play. The Lions got off to an eight-point advantage to begin proceedings before the Blue Raiders began to find their rhythm in the second quarter. A three from Sydnie Hall and a couple of jump shots from Amelia Hodges and Oldham allowed the Blue Raiders to match the scoring total of the Lions in the second quarter at 16 with the visitors only down by five at the half 25-30.

Three-pointers from Amerah Steele and Hall inspired a scoring run from the Blue Raiders to start the third quarter as they opened a 10-point lead on the Lions at 44-34 to start the second half. Lindsey Wilson put up their highest scoring total of the afternoon hitting 21 points on the floor in the third quarter.

The scoring momentum from the Blue Raiders continued into the final quarter of play as they opened with an 8-0 scoring run to push the lead to 54-43. The lead was pushed further to a 12-point gap later in the quarter after a couple of layups from Ison and Oldham, the largest lead of the afternoon for the Blue Raiders. Free throws from Oldham in the final minute of play sealed the 64-51 win as the Blue Raiders successfully complete the comeback on the road.

The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team will continue their road trip next week when they take part in the Julie Costello Memorial Classic in Crestview Hills, Ky on November 26-27. The Blue Raiders will open the classic with a match against St. Thomas (Fla.). Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT.
