SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team finished in second place at the Igloo Invitational on Saturday afternoon as they totaled 838 points. In total five teams competed at the event as host Sewanee won the event with 1,098 points.
Lindsey Wilson produced two A cuts in relays, one individual A cut, and added nine provisional times.
Maaike Broersma, Julia Secanell, Natascha Evrinoff, and Carlene Taylor notched an A cut in the 200-yard medley relay after touching the wall in first place at one minute and 48.70 seconds. Evrinoff, Savannah Schoeman, Taylor, and Broersma later teamed up in 400-yard freestyle relay for a first-place, A cut time of 3:35.22.
Caitlin Higdon, Schoeman, and Avery Herring each collected a provision time in the 400-yard IM after taking the top three spots. Higdon finished in 4:56.65 as Schoeman clocked a 4:48.09 and Herring managed a 4:48.10.
Broersma and Taylor each picked up provisional times in the 50-yard freestyle after crashing in first and third place, respectively. Broersma produced a 24.43 as Taylor managed a 25.05. Broersma then added an A cut during the 100-yard backstroke in first place after finishing with a time of 55.37 seconds. She set a new program record in the prelims with a time of 54.93 seconds.
Taylor added her second provisional time of the afternoon with a 1:57.03 in the 200-yard freestyle. She finished in second place. Secanell produced a first-place provisional time of 2:34.48 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Evrinoff and Allie Rutherford notched provisional times in the 100-yard butterfly as the duo took the top two spots finishing in 58.34 and 59.72 seconds, respectively. Herring closed out the event with a first-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle after touching the wall in 19:07.58.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the pool on Jan. 8 when they compete against Bethel (Tenn.) at the Holloway Natatorium.
