Women's Swimming defeats Union and Campbellsville

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team defeated Union (Ky.) 210-1 and Campbellsville (Ky.) 200.5-51.5 on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders racked up five provisional standards for the meet.

Maaike Broersma notched three provisional standards on her own. She claimed her first in the 200-yard freestyle with a first-place time of two minutes and 02.56 seconds. Broersma picked up her second in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.26 seconds and her third during the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.25. Both were good enough for first place.

Allie Rutherford picked up a provisional time of 2:19.21 during the 200-yard butterfly as she finished in first place. Natascha Evrinoff notched her provisional time during the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.07.

Annissa Koekemoer, Julia Secanell, Rutherford and Carlene Taylor took first in the 200-yard medley relay with a mark of 1:56.19. The quartet of Evrinoff, Savannah Schoeman, Taylor and Broersma took first during the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.67.

Jaye Farthing claimed a first-place finish time of 12:00.18 during the 1,000-yard freestyle. Koekemoer touched the wall in first during the 100-yard backstroke with her time of 1:04.32. Taylor finished in first during the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking a time of 1:12.84.

Schoeman managed first during the 100-yard freestyle with her time of 57.72 seconds. Secanell took first in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:38.57 as Herring picked up the final first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. She touched the wall in 5:37.54.

The Blue Raiders return to the pool on Nov. 16 when they head to Sewanee, Tennessee to compete at the Igloo Invitational.
