Women's Basketball Picks Up Tough Road Win Over Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team survived a late push by (RV) Georgetown (Ky.) to pick up a hard-fought 80-66 Mid-South Conference road win on Tuesday evening.

Trailing by four points at the end of the first quarter, Lindsey Wilson exploded for 30 points in the second. LWC outscored the Tigers by 20 points over the 10 minutes to lead 46-30 at halftime.

The Blue Raiders added to their lead in the third quarter, leading 62-44 but the Tigers kept fighting in the fourth. Georgetown methodically chipped away at the Lindsey Wilson lead, trimming their deficit to as few as four points at 70-66 with just over a minute to play.

Lindsey Wilson went to work at the free-throw line, hitting all ten of their attempts over the final minute to pick up a 14-point victory over their MSC foe.

The charity stripe proved to be the difference in the game as the Blue Raiders connected on 34-of-37 attempts for a 91.9 make percentage. The Tigers were just 17-of-32 from the line but were the more efficient team from the field shooting at and even 46 percent from the floor. LWC finished the game with a 33.3 percent mark from the field.

Amerah Steele stole the show scoring a game and career-high 26 points. Three other Blue Raiders finished in double figures as Hailey Ison scored 18, Sydnie Hall added 12 and Maleigha Oldham had 11. Ison added a team-high six rebounds in the winning effort.

Georgetown's Callie Jackson scored a team-high 15 points while Gracie White produced a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Blue Raiders return to the court on Dec. 19 when they travel to Rincon, Puerto Rico to take on Interamericana at Noon CT.
