Box Score HARROGATE, Tenn. -- Lindsey Wilson men's tennis opened its 2021 season with a 5-2 win over Montreat (N.C.) today at the LMU Tennis Complex on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University.
The Blue Raiders (1-0) grabbed the doubles point and won four of the six singles matches to claim the win.
After dropping the opening match in doubles, the Blue Raiders took the final two matches to claim the doubles point.
Tiago Almeida and Nicolas Torrealba beat Luigi Moretti and Nicolas Lopez 6-3 in the third-seeded match setting up the top-seeded match as the doubles-point decider.
Camilo Erazo and Aleksa Ciric upset Adam Nagoudi and Mohamed Braham -- who is ranked 15th in doubles in the NAIA -- 6-4 to give Lindsey Wilson the 1-0 lead entering singles play.
The Blue Raiders needed just three singles matches to close out the match win.
Ciric gave Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 lead with his 6-1,6-1 win over Taketoshi Nanao in the second-seeded match. Erazo -- ranked 27th in the NAIA in singles -- posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Nagoudi in the top-seeded match for the 3-0 lead.
Almeida claimed the decisive point in the third-seeded match. He beat Braham 6-2, 6-2 for the 4-0 lead and team win.
Jan Silhavy added a win in the fourth-seeded match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Lopez.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Friday, Feb. 19 when the Blue Raiders travel to the Georgia Gwinnett Invite in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
