Box Score LEBANON, Tenn. -- No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis beat 21st-ranked Cumberland (Tenn.) 6-1 today in both team's Mid-South Conference opener at the Tommy Gray Memorial Tennis Courts.
Lindsey Wilson (4-1, 1-0 in the MSC) won the doubles point and five of the six singles matches to win its third straight match. Cumberland falls to 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the MSC with the loss.
Camilo Erazo and Steven Espinoza picked up a 6-2 win in the top-seeded doubles match and Aleksa Ciric and Jan Silhavy followed with a 7-6 win -- 8-6 in the tiebreaker -- in the second-seeded doubles match to secure the doubles point.
Tiago Almeida and Anatoliy Voloshyn matched their teammates' tiebreaker win in the third-seeded match to claim all three doubles matches.
Ciric opened singles play in dominating fashion, beating Felipe Coelho 6-1, 6-0 in the second-seeded match to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 team lead. Ciric improves to 4-1 this season with his third straight singles win.
Erazo pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Hugues N'Goma in the top singles match. Almeida won the decisive point with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the third-seeded match. Silhavy and Voloshyn also picked up wins today to help Lindsey Wilson to the 6-1 team win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at Noon CT on Tuesday, March 16, as the Blue Raiders travel to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) in Pulaski, Tenn.
