Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - For the fifth consecutive match and sixth time this season, the Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team turned in a spotless performance, sweeping Mid-South foe Shawnee State (Ohio) 7-0 at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
Mother nature brought the heat to Columbia on Friday afternoon, and the Blue Raider responded in kind.
The doubles duo of Tiago Almeida and Steven Espinoza opened things up for the home, defeating Shawnee State's Jairemiah Brown and Chase Ward 6-0 to put Lindsey Wilson in line to claim the lone doubles point.
Camilo Erazo and Nicolas Torrealba did just that, copying the first duo with a 6-0 victory of their own to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead in the match.
Aleksa Ciric and Jan Silhavy won the final doubles contest, knocking off Zayden Rinehart and Jacob Freeland 6-2.
In singles action, Lindsey Wilson left no doubt on the court, posting straight-set victories in each of the six duals.
Espinoza left the first mark with a 6-1, 6-0 effort over Austin Hanshaw. Then, No. 27-ranked Erazo upended Freeland 6-1, 6-1 before Silhavy clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 6-3, 6-0 defeat of Rinehart.
Almeida, Anatoliy Voloshyn, and Adrian Bello Cruz iced the cake with 6-0, 6-0 scorelines in each of their respective singles matches.
With the convincing win, Lindsey Wilson (12-1, 9-0 MSC) earns at least a share of the Mid-South Conference regular-season title.
The regular season wraps up on Monday, April 12 with a home bout against Thomas More (Ky.) at 1 p.m. CT -- rescheduled from Saturday, April 10.
