Men's Tennis Advances to MSC Championship after 4-0 victory over Campbellsville

OWENSBORO, Ky. - The No. 1-seeded Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team punched a ticket into the Mid-South Conference Championship match tomorrow after dropping No. 5-seeded Campbellsville by a final of 4-0 today in the semifinals in Owensboro, Kentucky.

The doubles pairing of Jan Silhavy and Steven Espinoza got the Blue Raiders rolling with a 6-1 win over Matus Sevcik and Mario Sanchez. Lindsey Wilson secured the doubles point when Tiago Almeida and Aleksa Ciric defeated Grayson Cullen and Yuto Shimotsuji by a final of 6-1. The pair of Nicolas Torrealba and Camilo Erazo trailed 4-1 to Raul Safont and Nicolas Verdu when the match finished.

No. 38-ranked Ciric started things off strong in singles for LWC, corralling a 6-2, 6-1 win over Sanchez. Torrealba continued the big day for the Blue Raiders by picking up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Nicolas Weisner. Silhavy recorded the decisive point at No. 2 singles when he defeated Sevcik 6-0, 6-4.

No. 27-ranked Erazo's match was called off against Safont at a 6-3, 3-1 score since the Blue Raiders secured the first three singles points. No. 46-ranked Almeida was at 6-4, 5-2 with Shimotsuji, while Anatoliy Voloshyn played Pablo Mossenta at 6-1, 5-2 in the unfinished match.

No. 1-seeded Lindsey Wilson returns to the court tomorrow to face either No. 2-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) or No. 3-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) at 3 p.m. CT in the championship match.
