Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson men's tennis' won 4-3 at Cumberlands (Ky.) in a battle of top-15 teams at the UC Tennis Complex.
With the win, No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson (8-1, 5-0 in the Mid-South Conference) remains atop the conference standings. No. 14 Cumberlands falls to 12-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play with the loss.
Lindsey Wilson and Cumberlands split the top two doubles matches to start the day to set up a winner-take-all doubles match in the third-seeded match.
Camilo Erazo and Aleksa Ciric -- ranked 14th in the NAIA in doubles -- upset 11th-ranked Martin Barbier and Eric Banoub 6-4 in the top-seeded match. Luis Montull and Mattis Le Montagner followed with a 6-3 win over Jan Silhavy and Anatoliy Voloshyn in the second-seeded match to set up the dramatic finish.
Tiago Almeida and Steven Espinoza improved to 3-0 this season with a 7-5 win over Martin Muller and Robert Wu to help the Blue Raiders secure the doubles point.
Erazo and Silhavy pushed the Blue Raiders to a 3-0 lead with wins in the third and second-seeded singles matches, respectively.
Erazo won 6-3, 6-3 over Montull while Silhavy posted a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win over Muller.
Barbier gave the Patriots their first point of the day in the top singles match with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win over Ciric.
Espinoza clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Banoub in the fifth-seeded match. Cumberlands won the final two matches of the day with each match going the distance.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 3, as the Blue Raiders host No. 20-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
