COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team sits in second place following the first day of action at the LWC Fall Frenzy. The Blue Raiders racked up 322 total points as they are just behind Indiana Wesleyan who tallied 377 points.
The Blue Raiders opened their season with a win as Karolina Bidnik, Natascha Evrinoff, Carlene Taylor and Maaike Broersma won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of one minute and 43.15 seconds. Jaye Farthing, Julia Secanell, Annissa Koekemoer and Savannah Schoeman raced their way to third in the event with a mark of 1:44.97.
Evrinoff took third place during the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:47.71. Allie Rutherford had the Blue Raiders best finish in the 200-yard IM, finishing in 2:19.09.
Lindsey Wilson swept the podium in the 50-yard freestyle as Broersma notched an NAIA provisional and first place time of 24.91 seconds. Taylor and Schoeman took second and third with times of 25.78 and 26.26 seconds, respectively. Thirty-five competitors competed in the event.
Broersma, Secanell, Evrinoff and Taylor closed out the day with a win in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:07.14. Koekemoer, Caitlin Higdon, Rutherford and Schoeman finished just behind with a time of 4:20.97.
The women return to the pool for the second day of the LWC Fall Frenzy at 9 am CT tomorrow at the Bob & Doris Holloway Natatorium.
