PALM HARBOR, Fla. – The No. 17-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's golf team improved their positioning three spots during the final round of the Invite at Innisbrook. The Blue Raiders carded a 979 (336-324-319) across the two days of action.
The event was held at the Innisbrook Resort Island Course, a par-73, 5890-yard design. The field of 15 teams includes eight schools ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA National Coaches poll, including three of the top-five teams in the nation.
Malene Clausen jumped six spots up the leaderboard during the final round when she carded her lowest round of the week with a two-over-par, 75 to close out play. She finished with a 232 (78-79-75) after her 4.26 scoring average on the par-4's was the third-best in the 77 women field. She managed 34 pars and five birdies for the 54-hole tournament.
Megan Mann and Zofia Wojcik both finished in 40th place. Mann posted a 250 (88-82-80) as Wojcik managed a 250 (87-82-81). Katie Biddlecombe finished in 44th place with a 251 (84-81-86) as Hannah Sumner rounded out the scoring with a 253 (87-83-83) to take 50th place.
No. 2 Dalton State (Ga.) won the event with a three-round total of 929 (311-305-313). Ariana Castro of SCAD – Savannah (Ga.) won the event with a 222 (77-68-77).
The Blue Raiders return to the course on Oct. 8-9 when they travel to Noblesville, Indiana to compete at the Purgatory Invite at Purgatory Golf Club.
