Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – Hailey Ison recorded her 1,000th career point as Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team battled their way to an 88-84 win over Pikeville (Ky) on Monday afternoon. Ison was key in the Blue Raiders offensive success, scoring a team-leading 27 points while adding nine rebounds which was a game-high.
Lindsey Wilson led by one point entering a fourth quarter that featured four ties and four lead changes. Midway through the final quarter, the Blue Raiders trailed by four points but ultimately leveled the score at 78 with two minutes to play.
A three by Maleigha Oldham and an and-one play by Ison pushed the LWC advantage to 84-80 with just over a minute to play. Amelia Hodges and Ison put the game away at the charity stripe late in the action as the Blue Raiders managed a four-point victory.
Oldham finished the game with 22 points while Hodges and Sydnie Hall added 19 and 13 points, respectively.
The Blue Raiders dominated the paint, outscoring the bears 46-28 from the high-percentage area. The successful penetration led the Blue Raiders to 56.4 shooting percentage from the floor. The Bears managed a 48.4 mark but were just 23.5 percent from beyond the arc while LWC knocked down an even 50 percent of their attempts.
Lindsey Wilson came out fast to start the game, leading by as many as 10 points in the first quarter. The Blue Raiders ultimately led 19-13 after the first 10 minutes of play before Pikeville pushed back in the second to trim the LWC advantage to one point at 35-34 at the break.
The Blue Raiders return to play on Thursday when they welcome Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) to Biggers Sports Center for a 6 pm CT tipoff.
