Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team saw their four-game road win streak come to an end Saturday afternoon against the Firehawks, dropping their first game since December 2021, 63-67.
Maleigha Oldham led the Blue Raiders (9-7, 4-4 MSC) with 19 points while Bree Glover had 14 rebounds on the day. As a team, the Blue Raiders shot 46.9 percent from the floor. Lindsey Wilson outrebounded the Firehawks 31-23 but saw too many turnovers as they gave the ball up 26 times in the match.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair early as layups from Jordyn Stephens and Oldham put Lindsey Wilson on the board early. Both sides continued to trade the lead until the Firehawks put together a 6-0 run to take a 14-8 lead with 4:39 left in the quarter. The Blue Raiders responded with a run of their own, scoring nine unanswered points to close out the quarter taking a 22-19 lead.
The Blue Raiders continued to push the advantage in the second quarter after a free throw from Hailey Ison and a layup from Bree Glover pushed the lead to 25-19 with 6:16 left in the quarter. The Firehawks remained mostly quiet in the quarter until the final three minutes where the hosts went on a 6-0 run to cut the Blue Raider lead to within two at 27-25. Free throws from Glover and another layup from the Firehawks lead us to a halftime score of 30-27 in favor of Lindsey Wilson.
Free throws from Ison extended the Blue Raider lead to five at 32-27 to start the third quarter. The hosts however came out ready to play as they hit two quick back-to-back layups to tie the game at 32-32. The teams continued to trade the lead back and forth in the quarter until the Firehawks established a four-point gap after free throws from Taylor McNairy with 5:18 remaining in the quarter. Amelia Hodges tied things back up for the Blue Raiders at 43-43 after a free throw with 2:23 remaining on the clock. With a minute left, Oldham drained a three to re-establish the lead at 46-45 but a foul from the senior in the final seconds gave the Firehawks two free throws at the death and a 47-46 lead into the fourth quarter.
The sides continued to swap the lead into the fourth quarter before Oldham knocked down back-to-back threes to Lindsey Wilson take a 58-54 lead with 6:12 remaining in the game. The Firehawks responded with a run of their own tying the game back up at 60-60 with 2:27 left in regulation. With less than two minutes remaining, the hosts put away two layups and a three to come back and win the game 67-63.
The Blue Raiders return home on Thursday to kick off a three-game homestand starting off with Cumberlands (Ky.). Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
