Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson football team picked up a 37-7 win against visiting Faulkner (Ala.) in a dominant run game and defensive performance at Parnell Family Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Noel Patterson started off the game strong bringing the opening kickoff to the 50-yard line, setting up the first score of the afternoon on a Blue Raiders six play 50 yard drive. Kobe Belcher capped off the drive with a rushing touchdown from inside the ten.

On the ensuing drive Jaleel Warren caught a screen pass and fought off would-be tacklers taking it 47 yards for the Blue Raiders score. A failed two-point conversion put LWC up two scores at 13-0 over the opening seven minutes.

The Blue Raiders had the Eagles backed up to their seven yard line when Ben Anderson stepped outside the pocket and threw a dime to a streaking Satyler Wilson for 90 yards putting them deep in the Blue Raiders' red zone. Anderson and Wilson connected again to cap off the drive with a four yard touchdown, making the game 13-7 in the 2nd Quarter.

Lindsey Wilson tightened up on defense to force the Eagles to punt just before halftime. The Blue Raiders couldn't capitalize on the opportunity of staring at the Eagle 42-yard line as Ethan Cash's pass was picked off by Faulkner in their own endzone allowing the Eagles to kneel it out to end the half.

Opening up the third quarter, Lindsey Wilson takes over after the forced fumble by Michael Leslie, but the offense turned the ball over on Cash's second interception of the afternoon on LWC's opening possession of the half. After forcing a punt, the next possession for the Blue Raiders ended in points as Ian Sauter's field goal attempt from 41 yards was good, putting the game at 16-7 in favor of Lindsey Wilson.

Blue Raider defense stepped up forcing a turnover-on-downs deep into Faulkner territory, leading to a three play drive polished off by a Jbias Dawson ten yard scamper into the endzone.

With the defense standing tall again forcing a punt, Dawson capped off a ten play, 37 yard drive with a three yard score. Following a punt, the Blue Raiders called seven straight runs to eventually have CJ Fluker punch it in for the one yard score. The touchdown was the last of the contest putting the game at 37-7 and out of reach for Faulkner.

Lindsey Wilson finished with 347 total yards compared to Faulkner's 163. 215 of those yards were gained on the ground, setting a season high in rushing yards including a game-high 81 yards from Belcher.

Cash was the signal caller for the Blue Raiders completing 12 of 25 passes and one touchdown toss. Warren led all receivers with one catch for 47 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Darius Hylick led the Blue Raiders in tackles netting seven with Luke Bowman and Roman McDonald both registering six. The quartet of Therone Orr, Brandon Fields, Bowman, and Leslie all garnered one sack each, with the latter of the four forcing a fumble.

The Lindsey Wilson football team will take the field again in Tennessee when they face off with Cumberland (Tenn.) on Nokes-Lasater Field at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 22.
