Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team made its first trip in over ten years to Western Kentucky University on Tuesday evening, and under the lights of E.A. Diddle Arena, the Blue Raiders dropped a hard-fought, exhibition contest to the Lady Toppers, 84-61.
Junior Jordyn Stephens turned in an all-around effort for the locals with a team-high 11 points to go along with five rebounds, one steal, one block and an assist. Sophomores Amelia Hodges and Irye Gomez each contributed nine points, while Lucy Patterson corralled a team-best six boards, including five on the defensive end.
The visitors led by three in the early stages of the first quarter, courtesy of a three-pointer by Sydnie Hall and a subsequent jumper from Patterson to push the Blue Raiders ahead, 5-2. From that point, however, the hosts utilized their advantage in size to help them sneak in front and eventually pull away.
Lindsey Wilson never shot under 30 percent from the floor after the opening frame, and even bested the Tops over the course of the game from the charity stripe by converting on 18 of 24 attempts.
All told, the Blue Raiders finished the night shooting 40.4 percent, with a bulk of that coming from a solid showing in the fourth quarter, in which Lindsey Wilson outscored Western Kentucky, 18-17.
The locals resume their regular season schedule on Saturday, November 5 at home against Midway University at 6 p.m. CST.
