Box Score 1 COLUMBIA, Ky. – Maleigha Oldham recorded her 1,000-career point tonight during the Blue Raiders' 85-61 win over Berea (Ky.) on Monday night at Biggers Sports Center.
Sitting with 10 points in the fourth quarter, Oldham knocked down a step-back three to make her just the 14th Blue Raider in program history to reach the coveted 1,000 career point mark. The made basket gave LWC a 68-53 lead over the Mountaineers.
Lindsey Wilson finished with 15 blocks during the contest which set a new program record as six Blue Raiders recorded a block.
Oldham and Carla Moreno each finished with 13 points as Moreno added nine rebounds to just miss out on a double-double. Jordyn Stephens was the only other player to finish in double-figures with 10 points.
In a back-and-forth opening quarter, Berea managed to take the lead at 8-7 with three minutes gone before managing that lead till LWC leveled the score at 17-17 with 2:07 on the clock. Berea held the lead in the contest for the last time at 17-15 just moments before as the Blue Raiders took a 22-19 lead after 10 minutes.
Lindsey Wilson exploded offensively in the second quarter, pouring in 58.8 percent of their attempts on 10-of-17 shooting. The Blue Raiders locked down defensively as well, outscoring Berea 24-11 over the span. The Mountaineers cooled off from their opening quarter shooting 53.3 percent to a 26.3 percent mark in the second.
At halftime, Lindsey Wilson led 46-30 with Moreno dominating the paint with 10 points and six boards.
Lindsey Wilson pushed the pace in the third building their lead to its second-largest mark of the game at 53-30 just three minutes in. Berea cut the lead down to 15 three times in the quarter but LWC led 65-47 at the end of three quarters.
The Blue Raiders maintained their lead in the fourth quarter, building it their largest of the contest at 85-61, a 24 points advantage in the final minute.
