PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team lost their shooting touch against Shawnee State (Ohio), falling 63-37 on Thursday evening at Waller Gymnasium.

Lucy Patterson led the Blue Raiders in scoring with 11 points and nine rebounds, just barely missing out on her third double-double of the season.

Lindsey Wilson shot just 20 percent in the contest, with Shawnee State shooting at 43.6 percent for the game. The Blue Raiders controlled the offensive glass, but 19 turnovers which led to 19 points for the Bears proved to be fatal for LWC.

Both squads were looking for their footing in the opening ten minutes, with either squad not shooting above 35 percent from the field. The Blue Raiders could only muster 12 percent from the field while also limiting their opponent to an 0-for-6 first quarter. Shawnee's Marnae Holland caught fire to the tune of 11 first quarter points.

Lindsey Wilson managed to make up some ground in the second quarter, almost matching the scoring output from the counterparts 15-13. The Blue Raiders outrebounded the Bears 20-16 but a costly 10 turnovers in the first half led the score to 28-19.

The Bears continued to push the pace offensively, extending their lead to as many as 31 points in the fourth quarter. Lindsey Wilson kept up with Shawnee State in the fourth frame with a 14-11 scoring but the third quarter deficit was too much to overcome.

Holland continued her hot start finishing with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting.

Shawnee State ultimately won the contest 63-37.

The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team returns to the hardwood in Florida where they put their Mid-South play on pause to take on (RV) St. Thomas (Fla.) in the St. Thomas Holiday Classic on Dec. 29 at Noon CT.
