KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team claimed fourth place at the Mid-South Conference Swimming Championship. The Blue Raiders claimed 12 All-MSC honors while Maaike Broersma claimed two individual championships and Allie Rutherford added one of her own.
Alicia Kemnitz was named the MSC Women's Swimming Coach of the Year upon the completion of the event. It marks the second straight season she has picked up the award.
Broersma outpaced the field in the 200-yard backstroke, winning the event by more than two seconds, as she touched the wall in two minutes and 00.75 seconds. The time was a meet record, her second record of the championship.
Allie Rutherford claimed the Blue Raiders second championship of the day when she stood atop the podium of the 200-yard butterfly. She raced her way to a time of 2:09.09.
Maria Paula Escandon Lopez raced her way to a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, just off a winning pace with a 2:24.70.
Savannah Schoeman, Annissa Koekemoer Carlene Taylor and Broersma turned in a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay to close out the event. The group touched the wall in 3:36.18.
Cumberland (Ky.) won the event with 813 total points.
Lindsey Wilson now turns their attention to the NAIA National Championship on March 2-5 in Columbus, Georgia.
