Box Score PORTSMOUTH, Ohio. – The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team rolled 6-1 in the Mid-South Conference matchup against Shawnee State (Ohio) on Friday afternoon.
Nicolas Torrealba and Jan Silhavy played the No. 2 doubles match against Jacob Freeland and Max Mitchell, winning on a 6-1 result. Aleksa Ciric and Steven Espinoza played the top-seeded match against Zayden Rinehart and Keenen Lambert where they picked up a sweeping 6-0 victory to claim the doubles point.
Tiago Almeida and Joppe van Malderen claimed the final doubles match with a 6-0 sweep of Harley Dixon and Aiden White.
Van Malderen opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Freeland in the third-seeded match as Silhavy made quick work in the top-seeded match with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Mitchell. Torrealba picked up the decisive points in the No. 4 singles when he defeated Lambert 6-1, 6-0.
Espinoza and Voloshyn played in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles match to 6-0, 6-0 victories over White and Dixon.
Shawnee State claimed their only point of the afternoon when Diaz was forced to retire from his match against Rinehart.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the court on Sunday when they compete against Thomas More (Ky.) in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
