Box Score CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis ran its winning streak to a season-high four matches with a 5-2 win over host Thomas More (Ky.) tonight at the Five Seasons Sports Club.
The Blue Raiders (6-3, 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference) finished straight after battling back from a deficit twice during the match. Lindsey Wilson responded to falling behind after dropping the doubles point by winning five of the six singles matches en route to staying unbeaten in the MSC.
Tiago Almeida and Joppe van Malderen opened doubles play with a 6-2 win over Sergio San Pablo and Juan Pablo Villagrana in the third-seeded match.
But Thomas More won on the No. 2 court and a tiebreak in the top-seeded doubles match to take the doubles point and a 1-0 team lead.
Anderson McDowell and Nehmia Molla knocked off Nicolas Torrealba and Jan Silhavy 6-3 before Fernando Martin Paz and Alonso De Prada beat Aleksa Ciric and Steven Espinoza 7-6 (6) with an 8-6 win in the tiebreaker.
Ciric -- ranked 33rd in the NAIA -- got the Blue Raiders on the board with a win in the second-seeded match. He dropped just three games in a 6-2, 6-1 over Martin Paz to even the match at 1-1. Ciric improves to 7-0 this season in singles play.
The Saints (4-6, 0-2) inched back in front in the top-seeded match.
McDowell upset the 13th-ranked Silhavy 6-2, 6-3 to help the Saints take a 2-1 advantage.
Lindsey Wilson did not drop another match as the Blue Raiders won the last four singles competitions in straight sets.
Torrealba started the Lindsey Wilson run with a 6-3, 6-2 win over De Prada on court four to tie the team match at 2-2.
Van Malderen gave Lindsey Wilson its first lead of the match with a win on court three. He picked up his fourth straight singles win of the season with a 6-3, 6-2 win over San Pablo to push Lindsey Wilson in front 3-2.
Almeida provided the decisive point in the fifth-seeded match. He beat Molla 6-3, 6-0 to give Lindsey Wilson the fourth point and the team win.
Anatoliy Voloshyn won the final match of the night with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Villagrana to provide the final score.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Tuesday, March 15, as the Blue Raiders host No. 13-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
