Broersma Named Swimmer of the Meet; Women's Swimming Finishes sixth at NAIA National Championship

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Maaike Broersma capped off her national championship run with two more all-american honors an individual runner-up finish. Upon the completion of the event, she was named the NAIA Swimmer of the Meet for her performance at the championship.

The Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team finished in sixth place at the event with 205 points.

Broersma managed a runner-up finish during the 200-yard backstroke when she touched the wall in 2:00.25. She qualified first in the prelims with a mark of 2:00.34. Her time was good enough to set a new Lindsey Wilson program record.

Allie Rutherford posted Lindsey Wilson's second all-American honor of the day when she finished in fifth place of the 200-yard butterfly. She finished with a time of 2:07.29 during the finals and hit a mark of 2:07.15 in the prelims.

The pairing of Annissa Koekemoer, Savannah Schoeman, Carlene Taylor, and Broersma closed out the event with an all-american performance during the 400-yard freestyle relay. The quartet touched the wall in eighth place with a time of 3:36.34.

Keiser (Fla.) won the event with 785 points.

The Blue Raiders racked up nine NAIA All-American honors for the Championship as Broersma became the program's fifth all-time NAIA National Champion.
