Men's Tennis sweeps Freed-Hardeman

HENDERSON, Tenn. -- No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis swept host Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) today 4-0 to kick off a four-match road trip.

Lindsey Wilson (13-3, 7-0 in the Mid-South Conference) won the doubles point and all three singles matches that were completed to win for the 11th straight time.

The Blue Raiders captured the doubles point with wins in the second and third-seeded matches without dropping a game.

Aleksa Ciric and Jan Silhavy won on court two over Alex Pesic and Aaron Fehey 6-0. Joppe van Malderen and Tiago Almeida followed with a 6-0 win on court three over Hunter Pounds and Brayden Martin to secure the doubles point for a 1-0 team lead.

Only three singles matches were completed to get the Blue Raiders to the necessary four points for the team win. Lindsey Wilson dropped just two games in the three matches.

Van Malderen extended the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Arthur Calendre in the third-seeded match. The win is van Malderen's sixth straight in singles and ninth in his last 10 matches. He improves to 10-2 this season with the win.

Silhavy -- ranked No. 18 in the NAIA -- won on court three to help Lindsey Wilson take a 3-0 team lead. He defeated Pesic 6-2, 6-0 for his seventh straight singles win.

Ciric -- the reining MSC and NAIA Men's Tennis Player of the Week -- wrapped up the match with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Caden Arnold in the top-seeded match. Ciric improves to a perfect 13-0 this season and 30-2 overall in his career in singles.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday as the Blue Raiders travel to Bethel (Tenn.) in McKenzie, Tennessee.
