Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson men's tennis began postseason play today with a 4-0 win over No. 8-seed Thomas More (Ky.) in the Mid-South Conference Tournament quarterfinals at the Warren County Tennis and Sports Facility.
The Blue Raiders (18-3) advance to tomorrow's semifinals against the winner of fourth-seeded Pikeville (Ky.) and fifth-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.). Saturday's match is slated for 3 p.m. CT.
Lindsey Wilson won both doubles matches that finished and all three completed singles matches to advance in the single-elimination tournament.
Tiago Almeida and Joppe van Malderen blanked Payson Scott and Juan Pablo Villagrana in the third-seeded doubles match while Jan Silhavy and Aleksa Ciric -- ranked No. 21 in the NAIA in doubles -- beat Anderson McDowell and Nehmia Molla on court two to take the doubles point.
Almeida and van Malderen improve to 13-2 this season in doubles action with the win while Silhavy and Ciric move to 13-1 as a tandem, including winning their 11th straight doubles match.
Leading 1-0 in the team match, the Blue Raiders won on courts one, four, and five to secure the quarterfinal win. The Blue Raider trio dropped just seven games in the three matches.
Almeida won the first singles match of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Villagrana on court five to increase Lindsey Wilson's lead to 2-0. Nicolas Torrealba quickly followed in the fourth-seeded match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sergio San Pablo for the 3-0 lead.
Ciric -- the MSC Men's Tennis Player of the Year -- capped the team win with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the top-seeded match over McDowell. Ciric improves to 17-1 this season in singles play this season with the win.
The remainder of the matches were halted once Lindsey Wilson reached the four points necessary for the team win. The Blue Raiders were leading on three courts when play was stopped.
