Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team claimed a 4-3 win over No. 6-ranked Monteat (N.C.) on Thursday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex. The win marks the 13th straight for the Blue Raiders, a streak that dates back to February 20th.
Lindsey Wilson opened the match by winning two of three doubles matches to claim the first point.
Aleksa Ciric and Jan Silhavy opened play with a win over Adam Nagoudi and Taketoshi Nanao 6-4 in the No.2 match. Montreat leveled play when Denilson Martinez and Marcos Castares defeated Tiago Almeida and Joppe van Malderen.
The top-seeded pairing of Nicolas Torrealba and Steven Espinoza secured the doubles point when they defeated Anouar Braham and Ryan Little 7-5.
Lindsey Wilson quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead as they claimed the No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches. Malderen made quick work of Anouar Braham 6-4, 6-3 as No. 18-ranked Silhavy rolled to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Denilson Martinez.
Montreat scored their first points of the match in the top-seeded singles match when No. 25 Adam Nagoudi snuck past No. 40 Ciric 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.
Torrealba claimed the decisive fourth point of the match for LWC when he defeated Elisey Kalashnikov 6-4, 6-3. Montreat claimed the final two singles matches of the afternoon but ultimately fell 4-3 to the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson is back on the courts on Sunday when they host Georgetown (Ky.) on senior day at 1 p.m. CT.
