Blue Raider Women Hold Steady to Finish Fourth in Mississippi

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – At the Canebrake Country Club, the Lindsey Wilson women's golf team wrapped up its third tournament of the 2022 season, finishing with an overall score of 918 (311-303-304) to close out the Carey Collegiate Fall Classic in fourth-place out of eight schools.

Mid-South member Cumberland University claimed the team title. The Phoenix tackled the par-72, 5,940-yard course with round scores of 297, 297, and 302.

Katie Biddlecombe ended up in second place individually (221; 76-71-74), utilizing a final round score of 74 (+2) to climb two spots from Friday. The senior shot one-under par across the back-nine on Tuesday, and finished the two-day outing with the field's third-best average on par threes and fourth-highest on par fives.

Fellow senior Claire McLaughlin posted her best round of the tournament, firing a 75 after back-to-back 76's on Monday to finish tied for ninth overall. She also managed the fifth-best average on par fours and tied with teammate Zofia Wojcik with seven birdies, the eighth-most among the field.

Hannah Sumner (76-80-78) and Wojcik (83-76-77) placed tied for 18th and tied for 21st, respectively, and Lauren Holeman (83-82-81) and Paige Gray (79-82-88) also closed inside the top 30 for Lindsey Wilson.

As a team, the Blue Raiders collected 28 birdies while also turning in the field's highest-scoring average on par fives.

This week's action was the last on the schedule for the month of September for the Lindsey Wilson women. They are slated to resume their season on October 17 and 18 at the NAIA National Preview Tournament in Silvis, Illinois.
