Men's Swimming Wins Fall Frenzy

COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team came in first place in the ninth annual Fall Frenzy recording 1,416 points across the two day competition. Campbellsville (Ky.) finished in second with 682 points.

Lindsey Wilson opened with a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Will Thilwind, Jose Angel Rivas, Siaka Weidenbaum, and Max van Schagen touched the wall in one minute and 38.14 seconds. The pairing of James de Goede, Reece Kincaid, Chase Hickman, and Tyler King finished just behind with a mark of 1:38.94.

The Blue Raiders swept the podium in the 400-yard IM as Fabio Martin (4:22.47) took first, Rivas (4:22.59) placed second, and Malte Ahrens (4:29.83) finished in third place. Martin and Rivas both hit provisional standards with their times.

Lindsey Wilson swept the podium again in the 100-yard butterfly with Weidenbaum (53.34), Hickman (54.03), and Daniel Wytwer (54.79) claiming the top three spots. Martin claimed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.61 as Tyler King finished third with his time of 1:53.07. Tyler Buffel (1:03.16) and Max van Schagen (1:03.44) finished second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Thilwind (52.96), de Goede (55.12), and Azhan Hicks (56.22) claimed the top three spots of the 100-yard backstroke. Thilwind's time is a provisional standard.De Goede, Aherns, Kincaid, and Martin finished first in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:17.37. Martin picked up another provisional standard time in the 1650-yard freestyle with his time of 16:39.43.

Thilwind (1:56.89), Hickman, (2:02.10), and Hicks (2:02.42) swept the podium once again for the Blue Raiders in the 200-yard backstroke. Thilwind's time is his second provisional of the event. The Blue Raiders took the top four spots in the 100-yard freestyle with de Goede hitting a provisional time with a first place time of 48.40 seconds. Van Schagen (48.94), Rivas (49.22), and King (50.32) rounded out the top four.

Kincaid and Buffel finished in second and third place during the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:20.80 and 2:25.21, respectively. Weidenbaum and Wytwer finished in first and third in the 200-yard butterfly with times of 2:01.11 and 2:07.23, respectively.

The quartet of Rivas, King, van Schagen, and de Goede took home first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:16.23. Kincaid, Ahrens, Martin, and Hickman finished right behind with a time of 3:19.43.

The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team will be back in action at the Holloway Center Natatorium as they take on Midway (Ky.) on Oct. 1 at 12 p.m. CT.
