Box Score BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson football team rolled over Union (Ky.) 50-3 to pick up their second straight win of the season. The Blue Raiders were dominant in the contest, jumping out to a 33-3 lead at halftime before ultimately taking the contest 50-3.
Following a missed field goal on their opening drive, the Blue Raiders scored the first touchdown of the evening. Lindsey Wilson used seven plays and went 49-yards in three minutes.
Opening the drive in Union territory, Kobe Belcher rushed five times for 26 yards. The effort set up a Will McDonald pass to Elvin Fofanah for 13-yards and the score.
After another failed field goal attempt from LWC, the Blue Raiders got the ball back just two plays later when a Union fumble was recovered by LeAndre Bolden.
Two rushing plays later, Belcher punched in the ball for the score. A defensive penalty before the extra point attempt moved the ball to the 1-1/2-yard line as LWC opted for a two-point try but the Reid Brickey QB draw was stopped short of the goal line.
Lindsey Wilson used the final two minutes of the quarter to drive to the Union two-yard line after opening the drive in great field position at the Union 35. On the first play of the quarter, Jerome Jones scampered two yards for the score. Darius Hylick rushed in the two-point conversion to increase the LWC lead to 21-0.
The conversion is the second straight game Darius Hylick rushed in a two-point conversion.
Union cashed in on their first points of the game at the 8:06 mark of the second quarter. The Bulldogs went 12 plays and 65-yards before a 31-yard field goal crashed off the upright and through for three points.
Noel Patterson gave the Blue Raiders great opening field position following a 61-yard return that set up McDonald and company at the Union 23-yard line. Just one play later Belcher broke free for 23-yards and the score. Brickey tried to complete the two-point conversion but was stopped short.
Lindsey Wilson went into the break with a 33-3 lead after scoring one final touchdown in the second quarter. Starting a drive once again deep in Bulldog territory, McDonald needed just one play to find Patterson down the sideline for 32 yards and the score with 1:23 to play.
The Blue Raiders wasted no time scoring in the second half, taking 1:28 and three plays to find the endzone. Patterson was on the receiving end of a seven-yard pass from McDonald.
Sauter then cashed in on a field goal, his first of the season, on the next LWC possession giving LWC a commanding 43-3 Lindsey Wilson lead halfway through the third quarter.
Josh Watch scored on a 47-yard pass from McDonald to further the Blue Raider lead late in the third quarter. EJ Smith produced Lindsey Wilson's second turnover of the game on the next Bulldog possession when he forced a fumble that was recovered by Darius Willis Jr. at the 50-yard line with just under 10 minutes to play.
Lindsey Wilson and Union went scoreless in the fourth quarter as the Blue Raider won the contest 50-3.
Lindsey Wilson takes their first bye week of the season before returning to the field on Sept. 17 when they open Mid-South Conference play. The Blue Raiders take on Cumberlands (Ky.) on the road with kickoff set for 5 p.m. CT.
