Box Score MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team faced a setback against Bethel (Tenn.) 73-63 at Crisp Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Three Blue Raiders in Alera Barbee, Amelia Hodges, and Maleigha Oldham reached double figures in the contest. The latter of the three tied for the game-high in points with 22 on 8-for-15 from the field.
A back and forth opening frame saw the Wildcats on top 18-14 after forcing and capitalizing on Blue Raider turnovers. Lindsey Wilson forged a 10-3 run from the start of the second quarter, forcing the Wildcats to use a time out. The 'Cats roared back, swinging the contest in their favor at 33-30 with just over a minute in the first half remaining. Bethel would maintain that lead showing the contest at 33-30 going into the break.
The Wildcats detonated on Lindsey Wilson for a 28 point third quarter, giving the Blue Raiders the tough task of climbing back into the contest. Two quick baskets quickly snowballed into a 28-8 run for the 'Cats pinning the game at 61-38 with the final ten minutes still to play.
Bethel would hold onto the lead the rest of the way, but the Blue Raiders applied pressure and cut into the Wildcat lead, using the final ten minutes to outscore their opponent 25-12, converting all seven of their free throw attempts. The lead established in the third quarter was too much to mount for the Blue Raiders, eventually losing the contest 73-63.
Bethel made their mark from beyond the arc, shooting 13-for-25 at an impressive 52 percent clip, and using their offensive rebounding advantage to produce 14 second chance points.
Lindsey Wilson shot 13-for-14 from the free throw stripe while also giving Bethel a tough time on the defensive end forcing seven steals and eleven turnovers.
The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team will hit the hardwood again at Biggers Sports Center on Jan. 19 when they take on Tennessee Southern at 5:30 p.m. CT.
