Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson women's downs visiting Wilberforce (Ohio) 77-61 on Saturday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center.
Five Blue Raiders finished in double figures, the first time since 2022, in Lucy Patterson and Maleigha Oldham, who both finished with a game-high 18 points. Alera Barbee, Amelia Hodges and Diamond Bryant rounded out the quintuple, with the latter of the three scoring a career-high 12 points.
The Blue Raiders came out firing on all cylinders, connecting on 43.8 percent of their shots in the opening frame while holding their counterparts to just 27 percent from the field and forcing them into five turnovers. Cleaning the glass and getting to the free-throw line, showing the Blue Raiders to a 21-9 lead after the end of the first ten minutes.
Lindsey Wilson came out in the second quarter to more of the same as once again LWC outrebounded and outshot the Bulldogs. A Barbee layup with 1:41 left until halftime gave the Blue Raiders a 40-20 lead after the first twenty minutes.
Wilberforce didn't get deterred from their first half performance, pressuring the LWC offense full court and forcing the Blue Raiders into turnovers. The Bulldog offense found its groove, going on a 13-4 run thanks to a Margo Abrams layup cutting the contest to 44-35, a nine point game. Some more back-and-forth action shows Lindsey Wilson to a 56-44 lead after a strong quarter from Wilberforce.
The Blue Raiders got back to the ways that gave them the lead in the first two quarters, outrebounding and outshooting the Bulldogs. A Wilberforce three-pointer with 5:38 left to play swings the momentum in their favor and slices the game to only an eight point lead for the Blue Raiders. Oldham drills a shot from deep to kill the Bulldog momentum and puts it back in the hands of LWC. The Blue Raiders would finish the game on a 10-4 run, having the final score show in favor of Lindsey Wilson 77-61.
The Blue Raiders shot 47.1 percent from the field while getting to the line 35 times, making 25 of them for a 71.4 percentage. The Bulldogs shot just 36.1 percent from the field and fouling LWC 23 times.
The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team returns to the hardwood when they travel to Campbellsville (Ky.), taking on the Tigers at Powell Athletic Center at 1 p.m. CT.
