COLUMBIA, Ky. – At the Holloway Natatorium, the Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team dominated from start to finish to defeated Shawnee State University, 154.00-41.00, and Bethel University (Tenn.), 161.00-24.00.
The pair of wins helps the Blue Raiders maintain their unblemished record in dual meets during the 2022-23 campaign.
Jose Angel Rivas' school-record breaking time of 54.64 in the 100-yard individual medley highlighted the day for Lindsey Wilson. The freshman's performance dethroned Reece Kincaid's record time of 55.08 which he set in 2019.
Elsewhere individually, Tyler Harness picked up two victories in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle, and sophomore Siaka Weidenbaum set a provisional standard time of 52.41 in the 100-yard butterfly.
The Blue Raiders garnered two relay victories on the day. First, the 200-yard medley relay foursome of Will Thilwind, Tyler Buffel, Daniel Wytwer and Azahn Hicks posted a top time of 1:41.60. Then, Chase Hickman, Max van Schagen, Tyler King and James de Goede wrapped up the meet with a winning mark of 3:20.34 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Along with their relay tallies, Thilwind (100-yard backstroke), Hickman (50-yard freestyle) and van Schagen (100-yard freestyle) each grabbed wins in their respective races.
Fabio Martin rounded out the Blue Raider victors on Saturday with a win in the 200-yard freestyle.
Lindsey Wilson continues its push to the postseason next Saturday when the University of Tennessee Southern comes to town for a 12 p.m. CST start time.
