Box Score GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- A couple of game-turning plays meant the difference in Lindsey Wilson football's 10-0 loss to Georgetown (Ky.) today at Toyota Stadium.
The No. 9-ranked Tigers scored the lone touchdown of the day on a 41-yard touchdown toss while the seventh-ranked Blue Raiders committed a pair of red-zone turnovers in the first loss to Georgetown in a decade.
Georgetown grabbed a 7-0 second-quarter lead as Gehrig Slunaker connected on a 41-yard touchdown pass with Dillon Warren early in the quarter for the biggest offensive play of the game.
Lindsey Wilson had an opportunity to tie the game in the final minute of the half but of turnover ended a 10-minute drive and allowed the Tigers (6-1, 4-0 in the Mid-South Conference) to preserve the lead heading into the locker room.
With the lead, Georgetown shortened the game, dominating the time of possession. The Tigers had the ball for nearly 10 more minutes than the Blue Raiders (6-2, 3-1 MSC) in the game.
Georgetown added a field goal midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 10-0.
Lindsey Wilson's last hope ended in the waning seconds with another red-zone interception to end the Blue Raiders' 37-game winning streak against teams from the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Cameron Rankins (11) and Peyton Doles (10) each finished the game with double-digit tackles to lead the Blue Raider defense.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 4, as the Blue Raiders host Cumberland (Tenn.) at Parnell Family Stadium.
