COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team is in second place at the Mid-South Conference Championship after the second day of competition at the Kingsport Aquatic Center. For day two of the MSC Championship, the Blue Raiders racked up five more All-MSC honors with two first, one second, and two third-place finishes.
On day two of the MSC Championship, the Blue Raiders looked to make a statement in both relay categories as they finished at the top in both 200-yard medley and the 800-yard freestyle relays. In the 200-yard medley relay, Will Thilwind, Max van Schagen, Chase Hickman, and Tyler King went on to set a MSC Championship record time of 1:32.52 seconds. The finish was also the best ever in the 200-yard medley relay in program history.
Malte Ahrens, Jose Angel Rivas, James de Goede, and Fabio Martin followed up with a first place finish as well in their 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:51.69.
Martin brought home second-team honors after finishing second in his 200-yard freestyle race in 1:39.94 seconds. Daniel Wytwer and King finished behind Martin in seventh and eighth place respectively.
Schagen and Thilwind both claimed All-MSC honors in their respective races as they finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke and backstroke. Schagen swam a provisional standard time of 56.93 seconds as Thilwind finished his 100-yard backstroke in 51.13 seconds.
Lindsey Wilson is in second with 464.50 points throughout the first two days of competition while Cumberlands (Ky.) sits in first place with 658 total points.
The Blue Raiders return to the pool tomorrow morning for the final day of action at the Mid-South Conference Championship.
