Box Score OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated Indiana Wesleyan at the ITA NAIA National Men's Team Indoor Championship 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Overland Park Racquet Club.
In the No. 1 doubles match Sebastian Junqhanns and Lucas Marques were downed by Isaac Steiner and Trey Thixton 7-5 while Jan Silhavy and Anatoliy Voloshyn prevailed against Lennert Bengtsson and Alex Serwatka 6-4 as Firas Ben Chouikha and Tiago Almeida toppled Ethan Gray and Riley Fuqua 7-5 giving the Blue Raiders the doubles point.
Silhavy picked up the win in the No. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-2 against Steiner. Lindsey Wilson then pushed their advantage when Almeida dominated Thixton 6-0 6-0 in the No. 5 singles match. The Blue Raiders secured the win in the No. 4 singles match in a back and forth between Voloshyn and Gray ending in a score of 7-5, 7-5, giving the Blue Raiders a 4-2 win, their first on the season.
The No. 6 singles match went unfinished between Marques and Noah Lyons, 6-0, 5-2, as Lindsey Wilson had already secured the win.
The Blue Raiders now gear up for the Grizzly Invitational in Lawrenceville, Ga., taking on the top-ranked Grizzlies on Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. CT.
