LEBANON, Tenn. – The No. 13-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestling team defeated No. 18 Thomas More (Ky.) and No. 15 Cumberland (Tenn.) on Friday night to claim the 2022-23 Mid-South Conference Regular-Season Championship.
After defeating the Saints soundly to start the night, the title did not come easy for the Blue Raiders as the homestanding Phoenix built an 18-7 advantage after six matches. Lindsey Wilson won the next three matches to cut the lead to 18-17 and set up a winner-take-all showdown in the heavyweight division. Carlos Figueroa sealed the deal with a thrilling overtime victory, giving the Blue Raiders the 20-18 edge and their first Mid-South Conference regular-season title since the 2020-21 season.
Lindsey Wilson defeated Thomas More 38-6, picking up three decisions, two pins, two forfeit wins, and a tech fall. The Blue Raiders defeated Cumberland 20-18 with three decisions, two major decisions and a win in riding time.
