Box Score GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated Georgetown (Ky.), 5-2, on Wednesday evening at Lackey Tennis Center, pushing their conference record to 4-1 on the season.
In the doubles matches, Firas Ben Chouikha and Santiago Diaz defeated Parker Clarke and Tsugunosuke Hirose, 6-3, as Tiago Almeida and Ilyas Kouchairi downed Leo Schrimer and Stephen Taylor, 6-4, giving the Blue Raiders the doubles point. The Tigers would notch themselves a victory in the No. 2 doubles match as Maxcene Barriere and Chase Hechemy triumphed over Jan Silhavy and Anatoliy Voloshyn, 6-4, but Lindsey Wilson had already earned the point.
In the singles portion of the match, No. 20-ranked Silhavy was victorious over Barrierel, 6-3, 6-0, as No. 48-ranked Almeida defeated Hirose, 6-2, 6-1, putting the Blue Raiders one point away from the win. Diaz then dominated Logan Smallwood, 6-3, 6-1, securing the win for Lindsey Wilson. The Tigers weren't deterred, as Clarke downed Kouchairi in an intense, 6-3, 1-6, 11-9 battle, as Schrimer then toppled Ben Chouikha, 6-4, 6-3, swinging the momentum back in Georgetown's favor. Lucas Marques polished off the victory and shut down the Tigers with a 6-3, 6-2, win over Taylor, giving Lindsey Wilson the 5-2 advantage over Georgetown.
The Blue Raiders will be back on the courts when they battle with Campbellsville (Ky.) for the men's tennis rendition of the Battle of Highway 55 at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex on Mar. 23 at 1 p.m. CT.
