Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – At the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex, the Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team ran its season-long win-streak up to six matches with a 6-1 handling of Thomas More University (Ky.).
The Blue Raiders started the day with a dominating, clean sweep in doubles action. Anatoliy Voloshyn and Jan Silhavy (7-3) captured their first win together as a pair in almost two weeks, defeating Juan Pablo Villagrana Francisco and Samuel Mimbrero Lendinez, 6-0. Then, Tiago Almeida and Ilyas Kouchairi (6-0) followed with a straight-set victory of their own to remain undefeated on the year as a duo and clinch the first team point of the match for the locals.
Also in doubles, Firas Ben Chouikha and Lucas Marques (1-0) captured their first triumph of the season as a combo, conquering their opponent, 6-4.
In singles, Almeida and Silhavy made quick work of their respective matches – 6-0, 6-1, and 6-4, 6-3, respectively – to improve to 11-0 as individuals, and Kouchairi (4-4) ultimately clinched the match for Lindsey Wilson at the No. 4 slot with a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
Elsewhere for the Blue Raiders, Voloshyn (6-4) and Marques (8-3) each claimed their bouts in straight sets. The latter of the two posted a 6-2, 6-0 result, while Voloshyn earned his third win in the last four matches with identical 6-1 scores.
Lindsey Wilson continues its conference slate on Saturday when Shawnee State University comes to Columbia at 1 p.m. CST. The Blue Raiders will also be recognizing their two senior members of the team, Santiago Diaz and Almeida as well.
