Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. - The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated Tennessee Southern, 6-1, on Tuesday afternoon at Magazine Road Park for their first conference victory.
In the doubles portion of the match, Jan Silhavy and Lucas Marques downed Shizuya Kubo and Martin Cabrera, 6-2, as Tiago Almeida and Ilyas Kouchairi defeated Rage Matuck and Felipe Dias, 6-2. These two matches showed the Blue Raiders securing the doubles point, while additionally winning the final doubles match between Firas Ben Chouikha and Santiago Diaz versus Luis Cupertino and Nickolas Rosa, 7-5.
In the singles matches, the No. 41-ranked singles player Almeida toppled Rosa, 6-4, 6-2, as No. 13-ranked Silhavy downed Cabrera, 6-4, 6-2. Marques then defeated Diaz, 6-4, 6-3, leading to Ben Chouikha beating Kubo, 6-1, 6-3. The Firehawks collected their first, and only point of the match, when Gaspar Audision downed Diaz, 7-5, 7-5. Lindsey Wilson polished off the match with Kouchairi conquered Cupertino, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, granting the Blue Raiders the 6-1 victory over Tennessee Southern.
Lindsey Wilson will be back on the courts at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex when they take on Bethel (Tenn.) on March 16 at 1 p.m. CT.
