Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – At the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex, the 15th-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team celebrated "Senior Day" in style with a 7-0 route of Shawnee State University. The emphatic victory improves the Blue Raiders' win-streak to seven matches.
The locals got off to a quick start in doubles action as Joaquin Mersch and Tiago Almedia captured their first triumph of the season as a pair with a 6-0 decision, followed by a 6-3 result by the combination of Jan Silhavy and Lucas Marques (2-1) to clinch the first team point of the match for Lindsey Wilson.
Firas Ben Chouikha and Santiago Diaz (5-1) made it a clean sweep of doubles for the Blue Raiders by defeating their opponents 7-6 (7-4).
In singles, Chouikha (5-5) wasted little time handing down a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Shawnee State's Keenen Lambert. Then, wins by Almedia (12-0) – 6-1, 6-1 – and Ilyas Kouchairi (5-4) – 6-0, 6-2 – earned the locals two additional team points to seal the match.
Silhavy (12-0), Marques (9-3), and Mersch (1-2) also emerged victorious in their respective singles bouts, each by straight-set decisions.
Next on the docket for Lindsey Wilson is a brief step away from home to visit the University of Pikeville on April 6 before traveling to No. 18 University of the Cumberlands on April 8.
