STATESBORO, Ga. - The Lindsey Wilson archery team recorded four podium finishes during the team competition on the second day of the USA Archery College Target Nationals.
T Sanchez, Christian Blair and Zach Jackson finished runner-up in men's recurve team as the No. 3 seed. In the quarterfinals, they defeated California 6-0. The trio punched their ticket to the finals with a 5-4 victory over Cumberlands (Ky.). In the championship match they fell to Texas A&M 5-1.
Sophia Hunziger, Anna Krampe and Audrey Mills were the second seed in women's fixed pins team. They defeated Midway 213-180 in the quarterfinals and then defeated William Carey (Miss.) 208-189. The trio fell to Cumberlands 219-213 in the gold medal match.
The women's barebow team of Britney McCarthy, Sarah McCarthy and Chondani Mckenna-Vega finished third. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Campbellsville 6-0. The trio fell to Pikeville 6-2 in the semifinals. They earned the bronze medal with a 5-4 victory over Cumberlands.
Jacob Cook, Nathan Bush and Sean Neal earned a bye into the semifinals in men's barebow team. In the semifinals, they fell to Cumberlands 5-4 and defeated Pikeville 6-2 to earn bronze.
Five Blue Raiders reached the quarterfinals in the individual elimination rounds on Saturday. Britney McCarthy made it to Sunday's finals in women's barebow where she will face MSU Denver's Sierra Nation. McCarthy defeated Georgia Southern's SaNiyah Tanks 6-0, Pikeville's Emma Terry 6-2, California's Samantha Yu 6-5 in the quarterfinals and Cumberlands' Kennedy Sumpter 6-4 in the semifinals.
Mckenna-Vega reached the quarterfinals in women's barebow, Jacob Cook reached the quarterfinals in men's barebow, Gus Burtts reached the quarterfinals in men's fixed pins and Madeline McGuire made it to the quarterfinals in women's fixed pins.
McCarthy will compete in the gold medal finals at 7 a.m. CT. Mixed team rounds begin at 10:30 a.m. CT. T Sanchez and Layla Blevins team up in recurve, Austin Taylor and Madison Hart team up in compound, Cook and McCarthy compete in barebow and Lyle Uhrich and Hunziger compete in fixed pins.
