COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team sits atop the team leaderboard following the first session of the Dr. Dillery Fall Frenzy on Friday.
The Blue Raiders totaled 318.5 points on the first day while Aquinas (Mich.) sits in second with 234.5 points. Campbellsville (Ky.) is third with 176 points, WVU Tech is fourth with 127 points, Bethel (Tenn.) and Indiana Wesleyan round out the team standings with 118 and 57 points, respectively.
Lindsey Wilson opened the first session with a victory in the 200-yard free relay,. The quartet of Azahn Hicks, Chase Hickman, Clinton Eales and Max van Schagen touched the wall in 1:27.50. Jose Rivas, Dario Soria, Fabio Martin Rojo and Malte Ahrens finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:30.55.
Martin Rojo earned a victory in the 500-yard freestyle finishing with a provisional time of 4:47.40 to finish while Ahrens finished fourth with a time of 5:04.65.
The Blue Raiders finished second and third in the 200-yard individual medley. Rivas finished runner-up in the event with a time of 2:01.19 while Dario Soria finished right behind in 2:01.74.
Lindsey Wilson had two of the top three finishes in the 50-yard freestyle. Van Schagen gave the Blue Raiders their third victory of the night winning with a time of 22.13. Clinton Eales tied for third as he and Aquinas' Matt Dumbsky finished with an identical time of 22.38.
The quartet of Soria, Eales, Rivas and van Schagen closed out the session with a victory in the 400-yard medley relay. They finished with a time of 3:36.02 for the fourth Lindsey Wilson win of the night. Hicks, Tyler Buffel, Hickman and Martin Rojo finished third with a time of 3:43.35.
Lindsey Wilson closes out action at the Dr. Dillery Fall Frenzy tomorrow when they compete in session two at 9 a.m. CT and session three at 3:30 p.m. CT.
