Women’s Basketball Resume Conference Play against Campbellsville and Cumberland

COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team (14-5) will resume conference play this Thursday when they visit no.3 ranked rivals, Campbellsville (17-1). The Blue Raiders get back to action on Saturday when they host Cumberland (7-10).

LWC have a big challenge ahead of them versus the Tigers, who have only lost one game this season. The series record against the Highway 55 rivals is 20-64, and the Blue Raiders have not managed to obtain a win since the 2016-17 season. Their most recent victory over Bethel (Tenn.) might give them the boost they need to give Campbellsville a run for their money. Lucy Patterson, who recorded her sixth double-double of the season scoring a team-high 18 points while recording a team-high 11 rebounds, might be the difference maker on Thursday. Thanks to that performance she was voted the Mid-South Conference's women's basketball Player of the Week. It is Patterson's first career weekly honor from the conference. The junior actively leads the Mid-South for total rebounds, defensive rebounds, and rebounds per game, and ranks inside the top 10 for field goal percentage, free throw percentage and total steals.

The Tigers come from a tough win with a 62-58 score against Freed-Hardeman, whom the Blue Raiders defeated in conference play this season by 67-57 earlier in January. Campbellsville's Kaitlynn Wilks leads her team in total points (262) and in points per game (14.6). The graduate will be one to look out for during the game.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix are on a bad run collecting six straight losses having not won since December of last year. Their most recent game was a 53-87 defeat against no.9 ranked Georgetown. Lindsey Wilson leads the head-to-head 25-18, but Cumberland grabbed the win in both conference matches last season. The Blue Raiders will aim to keep their unbeaten streak at Biggers Sports Center.

Lindsey Wilson will visit Campbellsville at 4:30 p.m. CST on Thursday to challenge the third-ranked Tigers  in the season's first "Battle of Highway 55."

The Blue Raiders will host Cumberland at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday. The game will be broadcast live on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
