HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team took home the team title at the Carey Collegiate on Tuesday at Canebrake Country Club.
The 10th-ranked Blue Raiders finished with a 22-over par 886 (291-293-302) to capture their second win in three tournaments. Lindsey Wilson finished six shots better than runner-up and fifth-ranked Texas Wesleyan while host No. 6 William Carey (Miss.) came in third with an 893. Other ranked teams in the field included No. 8 Southeastern (Fla.), No. 16 Loyola (La.), No. 17 Truett McConnell (Ga.) and No. 25 Cumberland (Tenn.)
Butpapaporn Sukterm took home medalist honors finishing with a 7-under 209 (68-70-71). Sukterm tallied 14 birdies over the three rounds with seven coming in the final round.
Papatsara Niamrungrueang posted a top-five finish coming in fourth with a 220 (71-73-76).
Pitchayapa Pungpho moved up six spots in the final round to finish tied for 14th with a 229 (80-74-75). Pungpho recorded nine birdies over the three rounds with one coming in the first round, five coming in round two and three in the third round.
Holly Murphy (76-81-75) who competed as an individual and
Kayla Saunders (76-76-80) finished tied for 25th with a 232.
Tara Laverty rounded out the Blue Raider scoring with a 237 (76-78-83) finishing tied for 30th.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday, October 14 for the Gibson Bay Matchplay at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond, Kentucky.
