COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson football team welcomes No. 25 Campbellsville (Ky.) to Parnell Family Stadium for the Battle of Highway 55 Saturday at 1 p.m. CT.
The Blue Raiders (3-2, 1-1 Mid-South Conference) are looking to bounce back after an 18-14 loss at Cumberlands (Ky.) last week. Lindsey Wilson totaled 235 yards in the game with 174 coming on the ground. The Blue Raiders held the Patriots to 64 yards on the ground.
David Gardner Jr. had a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Lindsey Wilson enters play averaging 32.4 points per game and 328.6 yards per game. The Blue Raiders are averaging 218.2 yards on the ground per game and rank 12th in the NAIA. Defensively, Lindsey Wilson is allowing just 33.2 a game on the ground which is second-best in the country. The Blue Raiders rank 17th in the NAIA allowing 272.6 yards per game and are ninth in sacks with 18.
Campbellsville is 6-0 this season and 1-0 in conference play. The Tigers were last in action on October 5 when they defeated Cumberland 27-14. In the victory, Jagger Gillis threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns. Ashton Auker caught eight passes for 106 yards while Luke Sheperson caught a pair of touchdowns. Gillis is tied for fifth in the NAIA with 19 touchdown passes. Campbellsville is first in the NAIA this season in red-zone touchdowns converting 91.3 percent (21/23) of its chances. The Tigers rank 13th in the NAIA averaging 292.3 passing yards per game.
Saturday is the 15th all-time meeting between the two programs. The Blue Raiders are 10-4 all-time against the Tigers, including 5-2 all-time at home. The Blue Raiders have won eight straight in the series including a 35-14 victory last year in Campbellsville.
